Abstract

With an apartheid of diverse children and young adult books, as well as the dearth of rich, personalized writing opportunities in schools, the National Writing Project Director of National Programs and the Director of the Connecticut Writing Project at Fairfield University asked, ‘How might authors and teachers be brought together during the pandemic to discuss writing processes and books?’ The Write Time resulted, a digital podcast for educators, writers, young people, and families that showcases authors of children’s and young adult literature.

Author Biographies

  • Bryan Ripley Crandall, Fairfield University and Connecticut Writing Project

    Bryan Ripley Crandall is Director of Connecticut Writing Project and Associate Professor of English Education at Fairfield University in southern Connecticut. He researches and writes about writing communities, young adult literature, and working with immigrant and refugee youth in mainstream classrooms.

  • Tanya Baker, National Writing Project

    Tanya Baker is the director of national programs at the National Writing Project. For the past twenty years, Tanya has been committed to and shaped by the National Writing Project’s mission and vision and maintains a deep commitment to practices that respect teachers and students. She strives throughout her work to design learning experiences that begin with a presumption of competence and are relentlessly collaborative and deeply joyful.
