Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.
  • Where available, URLs and DOIs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is written according to APA (7th Ed) style; all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • All information identifying the author has been removed from the files, including from file names and title pages.
  • All references have been meticulously audited for accuracy.

Online Submissions

All manuscripts to Writing & Pedagogy must be submitted to the online system. Please consult the author guidelines before beginning the submission process.

Prospective contributors to Writing & Pedagogy should register as authors (see the 'Online Submission' details above).

First, click here to download the guidelines which you will find in PDF format. The guidelines pertain to article and book review submissions. Please contact the Book Review editor before submitting a book review to ensure that the book you wish to review has not already been assigned. All articles are peer-reviewed. 

We will acknowledge your submission upon receipt and let you know the anticipated timeframe for a decision. If your article is accepted, we will send you further instructions for submitting the final manuscript of your article.

Copyright/Original Material

The editors will not consider manuscripts which are under consideration by other publishers. It is assumed that once you have submitted an article to this journal, it will not be sent to other publishers until a decision about inclusion has been made. Only by special arrangement will the editors consider previously published material.

As a condition of publication, please click here to download, sign (electronic signature is acceptable) and return a copy of the contributor agreement by email or regular mail, once your manuscript is accepted. For multi-authored submissions, it is acceptable for one author to sign on behalf of all authors.

If your paper has passed peer review and been accepted for publication on an Open Access basis, we will send you a different contributor/Creative Commons agreement after payment of the fee and prior to publication.
