  • Kent V. Flannery, University of Michigan
Kent V. Flannery is Curator of Environmental Archaeology in the Museum of Anthropology. He began as a zoology student, but made the transition to anthropology by working as a Zooarchaeologist in the Near East with Robert J. Braidwood, Charles A. Reed and Frank Hole (1959-1970). Intrigued by the transition from hunter-gathering to agriculture and animal domesticization, he also pursued that line of research in Tehuacan, Mexico and Ayachuco, Peru with Richard S. MacNeish (1963-64, 1971-72). He and Joyce Marcus are currently directing a similar project in Oaxaca, Mexico, that began in 1966.
