  • James D. Muhly, Department of Ancient History University of Pennsyvania Pennsylvania PA 19104
    James D. Muhly is Professor of Ancient History in the Oriental Studies Department at the University of Pennsylvania. He studied Classics, Ancient History and Assyriology at the University of Minnesota and at Yale University. He is spending the 1989-1990 academic year as Senior Scientist awardee of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, associated with the Max-Planck-Institut fur Kernphysik, Heidelburg. Research interests include archaeometallurgy, ancient history (Near Eastern and Greco-Roman), and the study of the nature of contacts within and amongst the Bronze-Iron Age cultures of the Mediterranean and Near East. He is on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Mediterranean Archaeology, and several other scholarly journals.
