    Johan Goudsblom has been described as a sociologist by profession but also a poet, a historian of ideas, a cultural historian, and more. In other words: a man whose exceptional erudition and skills have taken him beyond the boundaries of sociology. He is the author, inter alia, of Fire and Civilization.
