The author, who lives at Piscataway in New Jersey, has spent some time in the Bodleian Library, Oxford, working on John Locke's notebooks and journals. She has extracted from them some interesting comments made by the philosopher on food and eating habits, and ten of the recipes copied into the notebooks. She gratefully acknowledges permission to print the material from the Librarian at the Bodleian.
