Claudia Roden is well known for her classic book Middle Eastern Food (Nelson 1968, Penguins 1970 and Knopf 1972), a work which combines scholarship with practicality. She has also written a book Oil Coffee (Faber 1977) and is now completing a book on outdoor
cookery, and starting one on Jewish food (cf. PPC 1, p. 72). She was born in Cairo and lives ill London.
