Abstract

A description of a kayak trip down the Mackenzie (the longest river in North America) and the food preparation involved in wilderness travel and camping including the use of an Outback Oven for baking, use of dehydrated ingredients, planning to ensure access to fresh (not muddy) water, packaging to avoid bears and other foraging wildlife.

    Donna McDonald is the daughter and granddaughter of two very good domestic cooks whose standards she tries to emulate but whose pastry she has never equalled. She is a writer and is currently engaged in fundraising for and managing the restoration of several listed churches in London.
