Online Submissions

All submissions to Postscripts: The Journal of Sacred Texts, Cultural Histories, and Contemporary Contexts must be made online. Please make sure you have read the full author guidelines before beginning the submission process.

Prospective authors to Postscripts should register as authors (see the 'Online Submission' details above).

First, click here to download the guidelines which you will find in PDF format. The guidelines pertain to article and book review submissions. All articles are peer-reviewed. We will acknowledge your submission upon receipt and let you know the anticipated timeframe for a decision. If your article is accepted, we will send you further instructions for submitting the final manuscript of your article.

The editors will not consider manuscripts which are under consideration by other publishers. It is assumed that once you have submitted an article to this journal, it will not be sent to other publishers until a decision about inclusion has been made. Only by special arrangement will the editors consider previously published material. Full details of our conditions related to copyright can be found by clicking here.

As a condition of publication, please click here to download, sign (electronic signature is acceptable) and return a copy of the contributor agreement by email or regular mail, once your manuscript is accepted. For multi-authored submissions, it is acceptable for one author to sign on behalf of all authors.

If your paper has passed peer review and been accepted for publication on an Open Access basis, we will send you a different contributor/Creative Commons agreement after payment of the fee and prior to publication. 

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • References including URLs and DOIs (where available) are ready to be uploaded when prompted during the submission process.
  • ​The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • You, the contributor, have read the guidelines for submission for this journal and have followed the instructions regarding journal style, etc. including the instructions Ensuring a Blind Review.
  • You, the contributor, have read and agree to our conditions for publication especially regarding our statement of ethical practice, the originality of your contribution (i.e. has not been previously published and does not include copyrighted material) and is not libellous or containing any potentially libellous content.
