Romania and Other Arab Words in Italian

Abstract

Barbara lnskip's translation of one of the celebrated essays by Professor Rodinson appeared in PPC 33. Here we present another, which was first published in Paris, in the journal Romania (t 71) in 1950. 

On the present occasion Professor Rodinson kindly found time to scrutinize the translation in advance, as did Charles Perry (the translator of yet another of the essays, which appeared in PPC 23); they both provided helpful amendments and suggestions for which we and Barbara lnskip are grateful. 

In addition, Professor Rodinson has favoured us with three new notes to this essay, those numbered 37, 38 and 43.
