Beer in Rural Ireland Before 1850

Abstract

When, at the 1983 Oxford Symposium, Jillian Strang and Joyce Toomre presented their paper on the Irish Potato Famine, they were asked whether or not the Irish would have drunk beer through this period. This prompted Jillian Strang to do some research which she here reports.
