Abstract

The article looks at what it would take to create an authentic medieval garden and looks at the problems facing those who attempt to re-create them today, in terms of differences between historic and contemporary vegetables, restrictions due to the pre-Colombian exchange time-frame, emphasis by medieval gardeners to favour medicinal rather than purely culinary vegetables and so forth.
