  • Charmaine O'Brien, Independent Scholar

    Dr Charmaine O’Brien is the author of books and papers on Australian food history including The Colonial Kitchen: Australia 1788-1901 (Rowman & Littlefield, 2016). She also writes on India’s food culture and history, and these works include the Penguin Food Guide to India (Penguin India, 2013), the first comprehensive guide to India’s diverse regional cuisines. Charmaine is currently working on her next book, The Devil Sends Cooks: Celebrity Chefs in Colonial Australia.
