Abstract

This article introduces and illustrates an unusual member of the jackfruit family, Artocarpus chaplasha Roxb., in the context of the more commonly consumed members of the Artocarpus genus. The opportunity to see and taste this uncommon fruit led down interesting research paths.

  • Phil Iddison, Independent Scholar

    Phil Iddison is a chartered civil engineer with 21 years overseas residence, working on major infrastructure projects such as the Baghdad metro. Collecting a broad range of food ethnography data as a hobby has led to the presentation and publication of fifteen 
    papers at the Oxford Food Symposium. Since 1990, his articles for PPC have covered an eclectic range of food and food-related topics such as Asian citrus, and grain cultivation and use in Ras al Khaimah, UAE.
