Abstract

This essay focusses on the topic of canonical, and more specifically Pauline authority. After addressing the historical use and development of the term “canon,” and through consideration of Paul’s own struggles with authority vis-à-vis some of his ekkl?siai, it is argued that the concept of canonical authority is both nuanced and even paradoxical.
