I have now retired from a forty-two-year career (1979-2021) of teaching and researching in postsecondary Jewish studies at Concordia University in Montreal. If you count my graduate studies in the field, my preparation for those studies, and my ongoing commitment to teaching and research, I have been engaged in the study of Jews and Judaism in varying ways for over six decades. There is no way that these decades of concentrated study, teaching, and research can be artificially separated from my still-developing life as a Jew. How do they interconnect?
