Abstract

This issue of Implicit Religion is a collection of papers first presented at the conference Contemporary Religion in Historical Perspective: Publics and Performances, held at the Open University at Kent’s Hill, Milton Keynes, February 19–21, 2018. The conference was organized by Paul-François Tremlett, John Maiden, and myself. The call for papers solicited presentations on the themes of education, media, pilgrimage, politics, and ritual.

Author Biography

  • David G. Robertson, Open University/Religious Studies Project

    David G. Robertson is Co-Editor-In-Chief of the Religious Studies Project and a committee member of the British Association for the Study of Religion. He has published widely on new religions, millennialism, conspiracy theories and critical theory. He is the author of UFOs, Conspiracy Theories and the New Age: Millennial Conspiracism (Bloomsbury, 201He recently guest-edited a special issue of Nova Religio and is the co-editor of After World Religions: Reconstructing Religious Studies (Routledge 2016).
