Abstract

The author posits that an exploration of Buberian texts suggests a Nietzschean influence, both in the aphoristic and poetic style of his literature and in his insistence on an embrace of the totality of what it is to be human.

    Kathleen O’Dwyer is lecturer in English literature and philosophy in Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick, Ireland. Her research interests include the role of philosophy in contemporary life, what human beings need in order to flourish, and the links between the disciplines of philosophy, psychoanalysis, and poetry, especially as they refer to the above. Her Ph.D. thesis is titled, "The Possibility of Love: An Interdisciplinary Analysis." It has been accepted for publication in book form by Cambridge Scholars Publishing, and is in the late stage of completion.
