We are pleased to announce that Equinox has been appointed as the new publisher of Lexicography: Journal of ASIALEX, the official journal of the Asian Association for Lexicography (ASIALEX). Prior to 2021, the journal was published by Springer.
There is a time-honored lexicographic tradition of dictionary compilation in Asia, with a great many topics to discuss and problems to solve. The region is vast and diverse: of the 7,105 living languages in the world, 2,304 can be found in Asia (ethnologue.com), and there are great numbers of dictionary users – both native-language and foreign-language.
Lexicography aims to serve as a leading-edge forum and powerhouse for all global issues of lexicographic interest, with an emphasis on Asian perspectives and concerns. The journal is open for researchers, lexicographers, students, teachers, translators, and all language lovers from around the globe, who are invited to discuss lexicography and dictionary issues referring to history, typology, use, criticism, structure, IT, components, compilation, application, media, phraseology, corpus linguistics, translation, education, etc.
ASIALEX was established in 1997 at the Dictionaries in Asia conference (Language Centre of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology). The principal aim of the association is to foster scholarly and professional activities in the fields of lexicography and dictionaries in and for Asia. It sponsers this journal and hold annual conferences.
